This is our fundamental machine sewing course, designed for complete beginners or those who need a comprehensive refresher on how to use a sewing machine. The emphasis of this course is proper use of a sewing machine for beginner-level sewing. (We will not be covering commercial pattern reading in this course.) This course has been designed to give you the knowledge and skills you need to begin your machine sewing journey, and our encouraging, knowledgeable instructors are here to help you succeed. The project for this class is to create a handmade “book” of different techniques and stitches for you to keep as a reference for your future sewing projects.
In this class, you will learn:
the parts of a sewing machine
what tools you’ll need
how to prepare the machine for sewing
how to sew a straight seam
different types of fabric and when to use them
different stitches and when/how to use them
how to fix mistakes
sewing room safety
how to give your project a professional finish

Sewing Machines: Sewing machines are available for use for an additional fee. If you’d like to use one of our machines, select the $90 gift card value. *If bringing your own machine, please ensure you bring the manual and all necessary parts for sewing to the class (feet, needles, bobbins, foot pedal, etc.). All sewing machines are different, and we cannot guarantee that our instructors will be able to help you thread/operate a machine without the manual.
Materials: All materials will be provided.
Required Skills/Knowledge: NONE. This course is designed for complete beginners.
Refund Policy: Full refunds of the class price are offered up until 3 weeks before the registration deadline. After that, refunds of 50% are offered up to 2 weeks before the registration deadline date. Refunds cannot be accommodated past 2 weeks prior to the registration deadline.

Upon purchase, you or your recipient will receive a code via email that can be redeemed for the selected amount.

Gift card recipients will have first chance at registering for classes. Email notifications that classes have been posted will be sent to the email address on file for the gift card. Recipients will have 5 days to register before the class announcements go out.
Class registration is first come, first-served, and we cannot guarantee a spot in any particular class. Due to small class sizes, we recommend registering as soon as the notification goes out in order to get a spot in class.
We cannot guarantee any particular timing or schedule for the classes to run. However, we do intend to run this class in the next six months.
