Knitting Basics 5 Part Series for Right-Handed People DAYTIME
This five-part series of classes will take you from complete beginner to confident knitter. You will learn foundational concepts and skills by knitting a series of coasters using different techniques in progressing difficulty. We will then finish the class by knitting a hat as our final project. By the end of the class you will have a strong understanding of foundational concepts and the skills to complete many beginner and beginner+ level knitting patterns. In this class, you will learn:
the two foundational knitting stitches
how to read a pattern
how to begin your knitting project (casting on)
yarn 101
changing yarn
binding off
how to end your project and give it a professional finish
all about gauge and how to make projects that will fit

Supplemental Learning: You will receive a handout at every class that has the pattern we covered in class, supplemental pattern recommendations for additional practice, and a link to video playlists that show the skills we covered that lesson - so you won’t get lost after you go home!
Age Requirement: Adult
Homework: Homework will be required every week to develop your skills. Please be aware that completing your homework is a crucial part of your learning in this class. If you don’t have the time to complete 1-2 hours of knitting per week outside of class, we recommend waiting to take this class until you have the time.
Required Materials:
You may purchase your own materials, or we can provide them for you in a kit for a $15 fee. If you’d like to purchase the kit from us, you may pay for the kit at the first class session.

US Size 8/5.00mm knitting needles (you can purchase this locally at Michaels - link here - or online at Amazon and other online retailers)
one skein of the Loops & Threads Cuddle Craft Tube Yarn (link here)
yarn/tapestry needle (can be found locally at Michaels -link here - or online at Amazon and other online retailers
stitch markers (can be found locally at Michaels -link here - or online at Amazon and other online retailers
You will need to purchase additional materials (needles and yarn) for our hats - we will discuss these materials in class before you purchase them.

Class Policies:
Make-up Classes: This class is designed for each class session to build upon the others. Missing any of the classes will greatly impact your ability to learn and complete the projects. If you know you will not be able to attend one or more of the class sessions, please reach out to us before registering. If you have to miss a class due to unforeseen circumstances, make-up classes are offered according to instructor availability during the day on weekdays for a fee of $35. Evening and weekend make-up classes are not available.

Registration deadline: January 27
Class must meet a minimum enrollment of 3 students in order to run. If you register for the class and the class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be refunded to your original form of payment.
Refund Policy: Full refunds of the class price are offered up until 3 weeks before the registration deadline. After that, refunds of 50% are offered up to 2 weeks before the registration deadline date. Refunds cannot be accommodated past 2 weeks prior to the registration deadline.
